Who We Are -
We are residents of Huntington Woods, Michigan -- joined by friends and activists in neighboring communities -- who are deeply troubled by our country's current foreign policy implemented in the shadow of 9/11. The reckless pursuit of war and aggression does not make us feel safer in our homes. In fact, it increases the threat of terrorism for all of us, and risks the lives of our young soldiers for ill-considered reasons.
War and violence are not family values. We do not wish to see our children learn from the current leadership of our own government that preemptive violence is an appropriate response to problems.
The wars and subsequent occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan are committing us to a lifetime of increased national debt. We want our tax dollars spent for the common good. Let's fund constructive programs to provide affordable health care, housing, clean and renewable energy, education and our children's future.
We join communities all over Michigan, all over the country and throughout the world in seeking rational solutions.
Our meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the Huntington Woods Public Library at 26415 Scotia Rd. Huntington Woods, Michigan 48070. You can also check with our Facebook page for current postings.
